Partnering Community Committee
The Partnering Community Committee will help the mission of Habitat for Humanity of building simple, decent and affordable housing with and for families in need. The partnering community committee works with each of the other committees to carry out their assigned mission. There are Committee Member Opportunities located in:
- New Prague
- St. Peter
- Watonwan County
- Le Sueur
The PR/Fundraising Committee is responsible for funds to help build habitat homes. The goal of the committee is to help plan a minimum of two fundraising events in the community and create at lease one mass mailing list (Thousand Nails Campaign, Carpenters Club, etc.) to keep the community well informed of our events. Among the committee members, they will set a dollar amount of funds to be raised for the year and keep a record of progress toward that goal. There are Committee Member Opportunities located in the five county areas listed above.
Faith Relations/Thrivent Committee
The Faith Relations Committee works to build awareness of Habitat as a Christian ministry and how Habitat can help area churches. The primary role of the Faith Relations Committee is to identify contacts in various churches and to provide “door openers” into as many congregations as possible.
Faith Relations Committee will meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at noon in the Habitat office, the first meeting will be used to determine a time and a place that works for every volunteer in the committee. Volunteers from all walks of life and faiths are welcome to join the committee.
The committee works towards creating and strengthening the partnership that Habitat has with the faith community. They also work with the Thrivent Builds program. This committee also works with the PR/Fundraising committee to assist with events and overall fundraising to complete a Habitat house. There are Committee Member Opportunities located in the five county areas listed above.
Building and Land Acquisition Committee
The Building and Land Acquisition Committee develops and implements the construction plans for our Habitat Homes. The committee partners with our Habitat families to meet their needs and tastes from start to finish in the building process. Decisions the committee reach run the gamut from house design to contractor bid, safety guidelines, land development and addressing repair concerns. A member of this committee is assigned to attend the All Building and Land Acquisition meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:15 pm at the Habitat for Humanity office at 1751 Bassett Drive in Mankato.
Family Support Committee
A Family Support Committee member troubleshoots to learn how to work with family, forming the guidelines and training: also serving to “support” the support. The committee provides resources, guidance and education by building a relationship with each family in an effort to better equip families for home ownership. At least one member is responsible for attending the All Family Support committee meetings monthly, on a Tuesday night at the Habitat for Humanity office conference room from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.
Family Selection Committee
The Family Selection Committee reviews applications for interested families. Committee members will conduct confidential home visits that are executed with the utmost respect for the family while successfully obtaining information regarding the family’s level of need. At least one member is responsible for attending the All Family Selection Committee meetings held the first Monday of the month at noon in the Habitat for Humanity offices.
