Habitat for Humanity of South Central MN serves five counties: Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Sibley, and Watonwan counties. The Affiliate typically builds 6-8 homes a year. As of 2016, the Affiliate has built 119 homes, serving over 500 individuals.
The Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota Affiliate builds in twelve communities:
Mankato, North Mankato, Kasota, St. Peter, St. James, Madelia, Le Sueur, Henderson, New Prague, Lake Crystal, Eagle Lake, and Mapleton.
Partnering Community Committee Members Description:
Partnering Community Committee members meet monthly as a collective group of volunteers representing their local service area. Partnering Community Committee opportunities are available in Le Sueur, Sibley, Nicollet, Blue Earth, and Watonwan Counties. The committee members serve as the backbone to local Habitat builds aiding in the planning, fundraising, family selection, family support, and building phases. Each Partnering Community Committee is comprised of a Committee Chair serving on the Affiliate Board (main governing Board for entire service area), A Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Partnering Community Committee Chair Position:
The Partnering Community Committee Chair is primarily responsible for planning the flow of the committee meetings by setting the agenda. During the meeting the PCC Chair coordinates and delegates the activities of the committee to aid in the local building process, all with the help of Habitat staff support.
The Partnering Community Committee Vice Chair is responsible for orchestrating the Partnering Community Committee monthly meeting in the absence of the Committee Chair. The Vice Chair also coordinates the development and implementation of the Partnering Community Committee training program orientating new committee members to the Habitat program.
During each Partnering Community Committee meeting, the Secretary records the meeting minutes and publishes the minutes to all committee members, shortly following the meeting. The Secretary is a vital position serving as communication liaison for all Partnering Community Committee Members and Habitat Staff. The Secretary is also responsible fostering local correspondences to area businesses, churches, and potential volunteers. This position may also include keeping tabs on the local finances.
